MORAVIAN’S JESSICA POSIMO & SYDNI WISNIEWSKI HONORED AS LANDMARK CONFERENCE
WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

MADISON, NJ --- Junior jumper/sprinter Jessica Posimo (Philadelphia, PA/St. Basil Academy) of the Moravian College women’s indoor track & field team has been named the Landmark Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week while sophomore sprinter Sydni Wisniewski (Orlando, FL/Winter Haven HS) earned Landmark Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for their performances last week.

The duo helped lead Moravian to its second straight Landmark Conference Indoor Championship this past weekend.

Posimo, pictured at top left, was named the Field Athlete of the Year and finished first the long jump with an ECAC qualifying leap of 5.31 meters (17 feet, 5 ¼ inches), the 55-meter hurdles in an NCAA Division III provisional, an ECAC qualifying time and Landmark Conference record of 8.50 seconds and the triple jump with a Landmark Conference record and ECAC qualifying distance of 11.11 meters (36 feet, 5 ½ inches).  Posimo was also the runner-up in the high jump at 1.52 meters (four feet, 11 ¾ inches), matching the winning height in more attempts, and the runner-up in the 200-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 26.67 seconds.

Wisniewski, pictured at right, was named the Track Athlete of the Year at the 2009 Landmark Conference Indoor Championships and earns Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week honors for the second straight week.  Wisniewski captured the 200-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 25.99 seconds and the 400-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 49.48 seconds.  She also ran the anchor leg on Moravian’s winning 4x200 and 4x800-meter relay teams in times of 1:45.71 in the 4x200, which broke the school record, the Landmark Conference record and qualified for the ECAC meet, and 10:03.20 in the 4x800, which also set the Landmark Conference record and qualified for the ECAC Championships.  Wisniewski also had a second place finish in the 55-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 7.46 seconds, and she was fifth in the long jump at 5.04 meters (16 feet, 6 ½ inches).

Moravian will return to action on Friday and Saturday, March 6th and 7th at the 2009 Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Indoor Championships being hosted by Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts.
