MORAVIAN’S MARIA DEBONIS NAMED LANDMARK CONFERENCE SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

MADISON, NJ --- Senior designated player/pitcher Maria DeBonis (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame HS) of the Moravian College softball team has been named the Landmark Conference Softball Player of the Week for her performance last week.

DeBonis led the Greyhounds at the plate with a .424 average in ten games during the team's spring break trip to the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida.  DeBonis started all ten games, including pitching in seven of them, and she collected 14 hits in 33 at-bats with two doubles, a triple, a homer, seven runs scored, ten RBIs, 21 total bases and a .636 slugging percentage.

In the circle, DeBonis was 3-2 with a save and a 0.74 ERA while pitching 38 of the team's 66 innings.  DeBonis allowed 11 runs although only four were earned with 22 hits and 11 walks while striking out 36 batters.  Opponents are hitting just .165 off of DeBonis.

Moravian will return to action on Tuesday, March 10th in a non-conference doubleheader versus Baptist Bible College at Blue & Grey Field in Bethlehem.  First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
