MORAVIAN’S MARIA DEBONIS NAMED ECAC DIVISION III SOUTH SOFTBALL CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK
MADISON, NJ --- Senior pitcher/designated player Maria DeBonis (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame HS) of the Moravian College softball team has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III South Softball Co-Pitcher of the Week for her performance last week.
DeBonis, who was also named the Landmark Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, had a perfect week in the circle, winning all three of her starts, as the Greyhounds went 6-0 last week while extending the team's winning streak to 11 games. DeBonis had a 0.37 ERA, allowing just one run on six hits and two walks with 27 strikeouts in 19 innings of action. DeBonis tossed her fourth career perfect game and sixth no-hitter in an 8-0, five-inning win over Albright College. She also earned a 4-1 win at DeSales University and a 2-0 shutout victory at Juniata College.
At the plate, DeBonis hit .316 with six hits in 19 hits with two RBIs, two runs scored and two doubles. DeBonis also had a putout and an assist in the field.
DeBonis shared the award with sophomore Samantha Howe of Manhattanville College.
Moravian, which is 21-7 overall and 4-0 in Landmark Conference action, will return to action on Thursday, April 9th in a Landmark Conference doubleheader versus The University of Scranton in Bethlehem. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
