TWO MORAVIAN PLAYERS; TEAM RANKED IN NCAA DIVISION III SOFTBALL STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Two members of the Moravian College softball team, and the Greyhound squad are ranked in the second NCAA Division III statistics release of the 2009 season including games through April 5th.

Senior pitcher/designated player Maria DeBonis (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame HS), pictured at right, is seventh in the nation in hits allowed per seven innings at 3.76, seventh in ERA at 0.68, 25th in strikeouts per seven innings with an average of 8.2 and tied for 37th in victories with ten.

Freshman outfielder Olivia Evanko (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth HS) is 28th in the nation with an average of 0.30 sacrifice hits per game.  Evanko, pictured at left, has eight sacrifice hits in 27 contests.

The Greyhounds are ranked in the top 50 in the nation in five categories including being fourth in the country in ERA at 0.77.  Moravian is 24th in doubles per game with an average of 1.89, tied for 30th in fielding percentage at .966, 31st in slugging percentage at .491 and 32nd in triples per game with an average of 0.46.

Moravian, which is 21-7 on the season and 4-0 in Landmark Conference action, is scheduled to return to action on Thursday, April 9th in a Landmark Conference doubleheader versus The University of Scranton beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Blue & Grey Field in Bethlehem.
