MORAVIAN’S MICHAEL BLENK HONORED AS LANDMARK CONFERENCE MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

MADISON, NJ --- Junior jumper/hurdler Michael Blenk (Inwood, NY/Lawrence HS) of the Moravian College men’s outdoor track & field team has been named the Landmark Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.

Blenk had a day of strong performances as Moravian hosted the non-scoring Greyhound Invitational at Timothy Breidegam Track and Rocco Calvo Field.  Blenk was second in the long jump with an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying mark of 7.02 meters (23 feet, 1/2 inch).  Blenk also took ninth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.79 meters (41 feet, 11 1/2 inches), and he was tied for eighth in the high jump at a height of 1.75 meters (five feet, 8 3/4 inches). Blenk tied for 12th in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.80 meters (12 feet, 5 1/2 inches).

On the track, Blenk finished tenth in the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.01 seconds.

Moravian will return to action on Saturday and Sunday, April 25th and 26th in the 2009 Landmark Conference Championships being hosted by Goucher College.
