MORAVIAN WOMEN’S TENNIS SQUAD TO HOST THE UNIVERSITY OF SCRANTON IN
LANDMARK CONFERENCE SEMIFINALS

BETHLEHEM, PA --- The Moravian College women’s tennis team has earned the top seed in the 2009 Landmark Conference Championship Tournament and will host fourth-seeded The University of Scranton in a semifinal match on Wednesday, April 29th at Hoffman Courts beginning at 3:30 p.m.

The Greyhounds are 12-5 overall and posted an undefeated 6-0 in the Landmark Conference season for the second straight year while the Royals are 5-10overall and 3-3 in Landmark Conference action.  Wednesday’s other semifinal has third seeded Goucher College traveling to second seed Juniata College at 2:30 p.m.  The semifinal winners will meet on Saturday, May 1st at the highest remaining seed to determine the Landmark Conference Champion.

Moravian head coach Dawn Ketterman-Benner has the Greyhounds in the postseason for the 15th straight season.  Ketterman-Benner, who has a career mark of 235-89, has led Moravian to the conference championship match in each of the last 14 years including winning the inaugural Landmark Conference title in 2008.

Sophomore Kerry McKinley (Sparta, NJ/Pope John XXIII HS), this week’s Landmark Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, leads the Greyhounds with an 18-2 record including a 16-1 mark at fourth singles while freshmen Jami Fein (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon HS) has a 16-2 singles record including a 12-2 mark at first singles.  McKinley is one victory shy of tying the single season record for the Greyhounds.  Freshmen Alexandra Hay (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South HS) has contributed a 14-6 record with a 12-5 slate at fifth singles in her debut season.

Senior MaryKate Kelly (Beach Haven, NJ/Southern Regional HS) has an 11-9 record including a 9-8 mark at third singles while senior Dyana Swan (Branchburg, NJ/Somerville HS) has an 8-9 singles slate of her own with an 8-8 record at second singles.  Sophomore Elizabeth Endy (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin HS) has recorded a 3-1 record so far this season, while freshman Melissa Emery (Phillipsburg, NJ/Notre Dame {PA} HS) is 1-0 in singles action.  Freshmen Anna Meola (Willow Grove, PA/Upper Moreland HS) has a 4-2 overall record while and Brianna Kavanagh (Pittsgrove, PA/Arthur P. Schalick HS) has a 1-4 singles mark in her debut season.

In doubles action, Swan and Fein are 12-5 at first doubles while Kelly and McKinley have a 10-7 mark while seeing action at both second and third doubles.  Emery and Meola have a 7-9 record at third doubles while Emery and Hay are 2-1 at second doubles for the Greyhounds.
