THREE SOFTBALL PLAYERS AND MORAVIAN TEAM RANKED IN NCAA DIVISION III SOFTBALL STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- The Moravian College softball team and three student-athletes are ranked in the fifth NCAA Division III statistics release of the 2009 season including games through April 26th.

Senior pitcher/designated player Maria DeBonis (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame HS), pictured at right, is 24th in the nation in ERA at 1.04 and 38th in strikeouts per seven innings with an average of 7.9.

Freshmen outfielder Olivia Evanko (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth), pictured at left, is 17th in the country for sacrifice hits per game at 0.36 with 14 sacrifice hits in 39 games.

Sophomore second basemen Stephanie Falzarano (South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) is 32nd in the nation at toughest to strike out with an average of going 42.3 innings without being struck out.  Falzarano, pictured at bottom right, has struck out just three times in 127 at-bats.

The Greyhounds are ranked in the top 50 in the nation in five categories including being fourth in the country in ERA at 0.96.  Moravian is 46th in doubles per game with an average of 1.68, 12th in fielding percentage at .971, 48th in batting average at .332 and tied for 37th in winning percentage at .775.

Moravian, which is 31-9 on the season, is scheduled to return to action on Friday, May 1st when the team hosts the 2009 Landmark Conference Tournament at Blue & Grey Field in Bethlehem.  The top seeded Greyhounds will play fourth seeded The Catholic University of America at 11:00 a.m. in the first game of the tournament.
