MORAVIAN’S ERIC WOODRUFF & TIMOTHY LAYNG HONORED AS LANDMARK CONFERENCE
MEN’S TRACK & FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

MADISON, NJ --- Sophomore sprinter/jumper Eric Woodruff (Brodheadsville, PA/Pius X HS) of the Moravian College men’s indoor track & field team has been named the Landmark Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week while freshman pole vaulter Timothy Layng (Canton, PA/Canton HS) was honored as the Landmark Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for their performances last week.

Moravian competed at the non-scoring 18th Annual Bucknell University Winter Classic in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania last weekend as the team’s final meet before the 2009 Landmark Conference Championships.

Woodruff, pictured at top right, captured first place in the 200-meter dash with an ECAC qualifying time of 22.62 seconds.  Woodruff was also fifth in the 60-meter dash in 7.14 seconds after running a time of 7.13 seconds in the preliminaries.  Woodruff competed in the long jump for the first time in his collegiate career at the meet and placed eighth at 6.35 meters (20 feet, ten inches).

Layng captured first place in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.50 meters (14 feet, nine inches) that qualified him for the ECAC Division III Championships.

Moravian will return to action on Saturday, February 28th in the 2009 Landmark Conference Championships being hosted by Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.
