MORAVIAN WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD TEAM DROPS TO 24TH IN THE NATION IN USTFCCCA RANKINGS

NEW ORLEANS, LA --- The Moravian College women’s track & field team dropped down four spots to 24th in the nation in the fourth NCAA Division III Dual Meet Rankings of the 2009 season released by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association late Wednesday.

The Greyhounds have a total of 123.30 points and remain the only team from the Mideast Region in the rankings.  The University of Wisconsin, La Crosse is ranked first with 155.10 points while Wartburg College is second with 147.72 points.

A team's total point score is the sum of all points earned by that team in each event. Teams are allowed to select up to two athletes per event, and an athlete can only be used in a maximum of three events (not including relays). Only one relay team per event can be selected. Schools are responsible for submitting their own results. The points are based on the best marks in an event in the current season (it's not the athlete's personal best; it's their best this season), according to www.d3rankings.us which coordinates the poll.

Moravian will try to defend its Landmark Conference title at the 2009 Landmark Conference Championships being hosted by Susquehanna University on Saturday, February 28th beginning at 11:00 a.m. in Selinsgrove.
