MORAVIAN WOMEN’S TENNIS TEAM PICKED AS FAVORITE IN LANDMARK CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL

MADISON, N.J. --- After claiming the first Landmark Conference Women’s Tennis Championship in 2008, the Moravian College women’s tennis team has been selected as the favorite to win the title again in2009 according to the Landmark Conference Preseason Women’s Tennis Poll.

The Greyhounds sit on top of the poll with 53 points, only three points ahead of second place The University of Scranton. The Catholic University of America is third in the poll with 42 points followed by Goucher College with 34 points, Juniata College with 21 points, Susquehanna University with 18 points and Drew University with 13 points.

Expectations are high for the 2008-09 Moravian women’s tennis team.  The Greyhounds were 10-6 overall in 2007-08 under the direction of head coach Dawn Ketterman-Benner, and the team returns five letterwinners from last season.

The Greyhounds, who were 4-2 in the fall season, begin the spring portion of their 2008-09 season on Sunday, March 15th at Wilkes University beginning at 1:00 p.m.
