MORAVIAN FIELD HOCKEY SELECTED SIXTH IN LANDMARK CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL

MADISON, N.J. --- The Moravian College field hockey team has been selected sixth in the 2009 Landmark Conference season in a preseason poll selected by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

The Catholic University of America was picked first in the poll with 64 points while Juniata College, the two-time defending Landmark Conference Champion, was second with 45 points.  Drew University earned 44 points to finish third in the poll while Susquehanna University received 43 points to hold down the fourth position.  The University of Scranton received 27 points for fifth place while Moravian had 19 points in sixth place and Goucher College rounded out the poll with 10 points.

The Greyhounds look to move forward with the progression the team has posted over the last few years with eight returning starters and 15 returning letterwinners back for the 2009 season under the direction of head coach Amy Endler.  The team is returning from a trip to Bermuda this past week and will begin preseason camp next week.

Moravian begins its 2009 season on Tuesday, September 1st in a non-conference match versus DeSales University at Betty Prince Field starting at 4:00 p.m.  Moravian opens the 2009 Landmark Conference season on Saturday, September 26th at Drew University at 1:00 p.m.
