MORAVIAN MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY TEAM SELECTED FOURTH IN LANDMARK CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL

MADISON, N.J. --- The Moravian College men’s cross country team has been picked to finish fourth in the 2009 Landmark Conference season in a preseason poll selected by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

Defending Landmark Conference Champion Susquehanna University was selected first in the poll with 80 points just two points ahead of Juniata College with 78 points. The University of Scranton was picked third with 61 points while the Greyhounds finished fourth in the preseason voting with 58 points. The Catholic University of America collected 43 points to finish fifth, and rounding out the poll were The United States Merchant Marine Academy with 36 points, Goucher College with 22 points and Drew University with 14 points.

Moravian looks to challenge for the Landmark Conference Championship with the return a majority of its top runners including nine letterwinners on the men’s squad. Fourth-year head coach Welles Lobb looks into building his young teams up enough to be a top competitor in the Landmark Conference.  The team began its preseason this week.

The Greyhounds begin their 2009 season on Friday, September 4th at the Lehigh Valley Championship hosted by Lehigh University on the Goodman Campus at 5:00 p.m.  The 2009 Landmark Conference championship meet will be held on Saturday, October 31st hosted by The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.
