MORAVIAN’S SYLVAINUS, HECK & WACKER NAMED TO CENTENNIAL CONFERENCE WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

LANCASTER, PA --- Junior wide receiver Shawn Sylvainus (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth HS), sophomore kicker Ian Heck (Easton, PA/Easton HS) and sophomore defensive back David Wacker (Parkton, MD/Hereford HS) of the Moravian College football team have been named to the Centennial Conference Weekly Honor Roll for their performances in the Greyhounds’ 20-19 upset win over Ursinus College Saturday afternoon.

Sylvainus, pictured at right, caught three passes for 80 yards including a go-ahead 16-yard touchdown pass to help Moravian earn the victory.  Sylvainus’ first catch of the game, a 21 yard reception to set up the Greyhounds’ first field goal made Sylvainus the 18th player in school history to reach 1,000 career receiving yards.  He is now 17th at Moravian with 1,062 yards on 70 receptions.

Heck, pictured at left, made a pair of field goals including the game-winner and a pair of extra-points.  Heck started the scoring for the Greyhounds with a 19-yard field goal with 16 seconds left in the first half.  He then made two extra-points to help Moravian take a 17-16 lead, and between the touchdowns, Heck kicked a perfect pooch kickoff to the Ursinus 29-yard line that Moravian recovered.  He finished the game with a 22-yard field goal with 7:33 to play for the winning points.  Heck had four kickoffs in the game, not including the onside kick, for an average of 53.8 yards.

Wacker, pictured at right, helped the Moravian defense limit Ursinus to 313 yards of offense including just 88 yards in the second half as Moravian rallied from a 13-point deficit.  Wacker had five tackles in the game, all solo stops, and a ten-yard sack with just over two minutes to play on a fourth-and-13 from the Moravian 30-yard line on the drive after Moravian had kicked the go-ahead field goal.  Wacker also stopped the Bears’ first drive of the game with his first career interception in the red zone at the Moravian nine-yard line.

The Greyhounds will return to action on Saturday, November 14th in a Centennial Conference game at Muhlenberg College kicking off at 1:00 p.m. at Scotty Wood Stadium and Frank Marino Field in Allentown.  The game will be Moravian’s final game of the season.
