MORAVIAN MEN’S BASKETBALL SQUAD SELECTED SIXTH IN LANDMARK CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL

MADISON, N.J. --- The 2009-10 Moravian College men’s basketball team has been picked sixth in the Landmark Conference season in a preseason poll selected by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

The Catholic University of America was picked first in the poll with 66 points while the United States Merchant Marine Academy is second with 60 points.  The University of Scranton and Susquehanna University hold the third and fourth spots with 59 and 50 points respectively while Juniata College holds down the fifth spot with 30 points.  The Greyhounds are sixth with 29 points while Goucher College is seventh with 23 points.  Drew University rounds out the poll with 17 points.

The 2009-10 Moravian men’s basketball team looks to return to the postseason after a disappointing campaign last winter. Head coach Jim Walker, who enters his 30th season, has six letterwinners returning and two starters back from last year’s 10-15 squad.

The Greyhounds begin their 2009-10 season against Lebanon Valley College on Sunday, November 15th at 2:00 p.m. in Annville before a trip to Allentown to compete in the Scotty Wood Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College. The Greyhounds begin the Landmark Conference season on Saturday, December 5th with a game at Scranton at 4:00 p.m.  The top four teams in the regular season will advance to the postseason tournament which begins on February 24th.
