MORAVIAN’S ALYSSA BISCI HONORED AS LANDMARK CONFERENCE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

MADISON, NJ --- Senior forward Alyssa Bisci (Easton, PA/Easton HS) of the Moravian College women’s basketball team has been named the Landmark Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for her performance last week.

Bisci helped ninth-ranked Moravian earn its first Landmark Conference Championship and an automatic berth to the 2010 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.

Bisci averaged 12.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game as the Greyhounds extended their winning streak to 20 games and captured their first conference title since 1992.  Bisci opened the week with 12 points and four rebounds in 35 minutes of action in Moravian's 52-44 win over Susquehanna University in the Landmark Conference Semifinals.  She then added 12 points, including seven straight in a decisive 11-0 run in the second half, to go along with seven rebounds in Moravian's 66-49 victory over The University of Scranton in the Landmark Conference Championship game.

For the week, Bisci was nine-for-14 from the floor (64.3 percent) and six-for-ten at the foul line.  She also had two assists, two steals, a blocked shot and just two turnovers while playing a team high 68 minutes.

The Greyhounds, who are now 25-2 overall, will return to the court on Friday, March 5th, in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Tournament when they are set to play Utica (NY) College, tipping off at 7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.

Moravian is currently ranked ninth in the nation in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, and the Greyhounds are tied for tenth in the USA Today/ESPN Division III Coaches.
