MORAVIAN’S FORAN, HARRISON & STEARNS NAMED TO WOMEN’S BASKETBALL LANDMARK ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS;
COACHING STAFF ALSO HONORED

MADISON, N.J. --- Senior guard Jessica Foran (Annandale, NJ/Rutgers Prep HS), guard Kate Harrison (Cold Spring Harbor, NY/Cold Spring Harbor HS) and forward Kirsty Stearns (East Norwich, NY/Oyster Bay HS) of the Moravian College women’s basketball team has been named to the 2010 Landmark All-Conference First Team while head coach Mary Beth Spirk and her staff were honored as the Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year as released by the conference office.

Moravian has posted a 25-2 record this season including a 14-0 mark during the Landmark Conference campaign to earn the top seed in the upcoming Landmark Conference Tournament.  The Greyhounds earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament after winning the Landmark Conference Championships, and will host the first and second round games in Johnston Hall on Friday, March 5th and Saturday, March 6th.  Moravian will play Utica (NY) College on Friday no earlier than 7:00 p.m.

Coach Spirk, pictured at right, and her assistant coaches Amy Endler, Dan Tannous, Melissa Torba and Sara Steinman have led Moravian to its ninth straight and 20th postseason appearance in Spirk’s 23 seasons.  The Greyhounds are in the NCAA Tournament for the eighth time including three appearances in the last five years.

Foran, pictured at left, is third on the squad in scoring at 10.4 points per game, and she has added 78 rebounds, 51 assists, 36 steals and nine blocked shots.  Foran, who is the leading free throw shooter in school history at 86.7 percent (384-for-443), has connected on 96-of-113 free throws this season (85.0 percent).  Foran has just 41 turnovers this season while playing 24.0 minutes a game.

Harrison, who was named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team last season and the Second Team in 2008, is second on the squad netting in 10.8 points per game to go along with an average of 5.6 rebounds per contest.  Harrison, pictured at right, leads Moravian with 83 assists and 43 steals while committing just 64 turnovers while playing 25.1 minutes per game.  She also has 23 blocked shots and is shooting 77.6 percent (59-of-76) at the foul line this season.

Stearns, pictured at left, leads Moravian in scoring and rebounding with average of 11.8 points and 6.7 boards per game.  Stearns has also contributed 54 blocked shots, 42 steals and 35 assists this season while shooting 86.4 percent (95-for-110) at the foul line.

The trio has all passed 1,000 points in their careers.  Harrison is 14th with 1,120 points, and she is 15th with 504 rebounds, sixth in assists with 279 and ninth in games played at 111.  Stearns is 16th with 1,101 points and eighth with 642 rebounds while Foran is 17th in scoring with a total of 1,088 points.  This marks the first time in Moravian history that three players from the same class have reached 1,000 career points.
