THREE MORAVIAN STUDENT-ATHLETES TO COMPETE AT NCAA DIVISION III INDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

GREENCASTLE, IN --- Moravian College has three student-athletes that will compete at the 2010 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana on Friday and Saturday, March 12th and 13th.

Senior Anna Heim (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown HS) will compete in the women’s pole vault for the fourth straight season.  Heim has the best vault of the 2010 season, and the top vault of all-time in NCAA Division III indoor history at a height of 4.10 meters (13 feet, 5 ¼ inches).  The pole vault is scheduled to begin on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with 15 competitors.  The top eight competitors will participate in the finals immediately following the preliminaries.  Heim was the runner-up last year’s indoor championships and fourth in 2008 to earn All-American honors.

Senior Symonne Scott (Attleboro, MA/Attleboro HS) is also heading to the indoor national championships for second consecutive year to compete in the long jump.  Scott enters the meet 13th of 15 competitors with a season best mark of 5.56 meters (18 feet, three inches).  The long jump is scheduled to begin on Friday at 10:00 a.m. with the top eight competitors participating in the finals immediately following the preliminaries.  Scott, who has competed three times at the NCAA Championships including twice outdoors, was seventh in the long jump a year ago to earn All-American honors.

Freshman Micah Leonard (York, PA/William Penn HS) is making her first trip to the national championships, and she will compete in a pair of events.  Leonard is ranked 11th entering the long jump with Scott after a season best lead of 5.58 meters (18 feet, 3 ¾ inches).  Leonard will also compete in the triple jump on Saturday at 9:45 a.m. after qualifying 13th with a distance of 11.63 meters (38 feet, two inches).
