MADISON, NJ --- Sophomore outfielder Kevin O’Keefe (Alexandria, VA/Bishop Ireton HS) of the Moravian College baseball team has been named the Landmark Conference Baseball Player of the Week while senior pitcher Joe Melchionna (Marlboro, NJ/St. John Vianney HS) earned Pitcher of the Week honors for their performances last week.

The duo helped the Greyhounds post a 2-2 record last week while playing in the RussMatt Invitational in Winter Haven, Florida as Moravian split doubleheaders with Gettysburg College and Eastern Nazarene (MA) College.

O’Keefe, pictured at top right, hit .538 for the week while starting all four games.  He had seven hits (four for extra bases) in 13 at-bats with two doubles, two homers, nine RBIs, three runs scored and a 1.154 slugging percentage. O'Keefe also drew two walks for a .563 on-base percentage, and he had a putout and an assist in the field.  On the mound, O'Keefe did not receive a decision in his only appearance on the mound.  He tossed four innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

Melchionna, pictured at left, allowed three runs, two earned, on eight hits and no walks while striking out seven batters in a 3-2 loss to Eastern Nazarene in his first action of the season.

The Greyhound, who are 2-3 overall, are scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, March 16th in a non-conference game versus rival Muhlenberg College beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Gillespie Field in Bethlehem for Moravian’s first home contest of the season.
