Thursday, March 25, 2010 MORAVIAN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM RANKED 22ND IN FINAL 2010 D3HOOPS.COM TOP 25 POLL
The Greyhounds, under the direction of 23-year head coach Mary Beth Spirk, were ranked eighth in the 13th poll before the 2010 NCAA Division III Tournament, ninth in week’s 11 and 12, tenth in the tenth poll, 12th in week nine, 13th in week eight, 14th in week seven, 16th in week six, 18th in week five, 19th in week four, 17th in the third poll, 12th in the second poll and 23rd in the first regular season poll after being 15th in the preseason poll. Moravian received a season high 442 points in the 13th week and 120 points in the final poll. Moravian’s eighth place ranking is the highest for the Greyhounds in the D3hoops.com era that began in 1999-2000. Moravian’s previous highest ranking was 12th in the second week of the 2005-06 season when the Greyhounds started the season 7-0, and matched last week. Washington University-St. Louis earned all 25 first place votes and 625 points after winning the NCAA Division III National Championship last weekend. Hope (MI) College, the runner-up, is ranked second with 595 points.
