MORAVIAN MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD TEAMS RANKED IN NCAA DIVISION III REGIONAL TEAM INDEX

NEW ORLEANS, LA --- The Moravian College women’s track & field team went up two spots to 1st in the Mideast Region and the Moravian men also went up two spots to 8th in the Mideast Region in the second NCAA Division III Regional Team Index of the 2010 season released by the U S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Wednesday.

The Greyhound women have a total of 300.27 points and ten points ahead of the second team in the Mideast Region, Haverford College who has 290.69 points.  Johns Hopkins University is 3rd with 196.52 points and Salisbury University rounds out the top four with a total of 191.60 points.

The Greyhound men have a total of 160.59 points and are currently the 8th ranked team from the Mideast Region in the rankings.  Salisbury University currently sits on top of the Mideast Region with a total of 311.33 points and Penn State Behrend is ranked second in the region with 206.26 points.

A team's total point score is the sum of all points earned by that team in each event. Teams are allowed to select up to two athletes per event, and an athlete can only be used in a maximum of three events (not including relays). Only one relay team per event can be selected. Schools are responsible for submitting their own results. The points are based on the best marks in an event in the current season (it's not the athlete's personal best; it's their best this season), according to www.d3rankings.us which coordinates the poll.

Moravian will return to action on Friday, April 16th when they are set to host the Greyhound Invitational at the Steel Field Complex, right here in Bethlehem, PA.
