NINE GREYHOUNDS TO COMPETE AT THE 116th PENN RELAYS

PHILADELPHIA, PA --- Nine members of the Moravian College men’s and women’s outdoor track & field teams will compete in the 116th Penn Relays on April 22nd and 23rd highlighted by senior Anna Heim (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown HS) in the College Women’s Pole Vault Championship.

Heim, who won the College Division of the women’s pole vault last year at the Penn Relays with a height of 3.80 meters (12 feet, 5 ½ inches), was placed in the field of 14 competitors in the Championship Division that is scheduled to compete on Thursday, April 22nd at 3:00 p.m.  Heim’s height of 4.16 meters (13 feet, 7 ¾ inches) from her winning vault at the 2010 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships is ranked fifth of the 14 competitors at the Penn Relays, and Heim, pictured at right, is the only non-NCAA Division I student-athlete in the field.  Her top outdoor vault this season in 3.80 meters.

Also on Thursday, the Greyhound women’s 4x100-meter relay squad of seniors Rachel Beck (Churchville, PA/Council Rock South HS), Dana Haslett (Souderton, PA/Pennridge HS), Rachel Riggs (Gettysburg, PA/Gettysburg HS) and Symmone Scott (Attleboro, MA/Attleboro HS) will compete at 1:05 p.m.  The quartet placed second at the Greyhound Invitational last Saturday with an ECAC qualifying time of 48.73 seconds.

On the men’s side, Moravian’s 4x400-meter relay squad of senior Steve Parisi (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley HS), juniors Warner Jones (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough HS) and Eric Woodruff (Brodheadsville, PA/Pius X HS) and freshman Justin Taylor (Randolph, NJ/Randolph HS) will compete in the Pop Haddleton MAC relay on Friday, April 23rd at 5:35 p.m.  The quartet placed fifth last weekend at the Greyhound Invitational with an NCAA provisional and ECAC qualifying time of 41.81 seconds, the second fastest time in school history.
