MORAVIAN’S SETH HARTMAN & LUCAS SMITH HONORED BY EMPIRE 8 CONFERENCE

ROCHESTER, NY --- Moravian College juniors Seth Hartman (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown HS) and Lucas Smith (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing HS) have been honored by the Empire 8 Conference after competing in the squads first Empire 8 Golf Championship.

Hartman, pictured at right, earned All-Conference Second Team honors, finishing in a tie for seventh of the 33 golfers that played all four rounds of the championship while Smith was honored as Moravian’s Sportsman of the Year, awarded to one player from each participating school.  To earn all-conference honors, a player must play all four rounds, two in the fall and two in the spring.  The top five finishers earn all-conference first team with the next five finishers earning second team honors.

Hartman had a four-round score of 319, finishing tied for seventh with Kevin Willett from Susquehanna University.  Hartman fired rounds of 79 and 75 at the Blue Herron Hills Country Club in Macedon, New York on September 19th and 20th before rounds of 84 and 81 this past weekend at the Susquehanna Valley Country Club in Hummels Wharf.

Smith, pictured at left, tied for 13th in the tournament for the Greyhounds with a score of 326.  Smith had rounds of 85 and 76 in the fall and scores of 88 and 77 this spring.

Moravian, which joined the Empire 8 Conference as an associate member in golf this year, was third of eight schools at the Empire 8 Championships.  The Greyhounds were sixth after the opening two rounds last fall.
