FOUR MORAVIAN STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED TO LANDMARK CONFERENCE FALL ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

MADISON, NJ --- Senior Blake Ritchey (Souderton, PA/Souderton HS) along with junior Mary King (Paramus, NJ/Paramus HS) and sophomores Matthew Lutcza (Dingmans Ferry, PA/Delaware Valley HS) and Diana Feldmann (York, PA/Central York HS) from Moravian College have been named to the 2009 Landmark Conference Fall All-Academic Team announced Tuesday, December 8th.

The Landmark Conference has selected 32 student-athletes for the 2009 Fall Landmark All-Academic Team.  Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically.  Nominees could compete in any of the Landmark fall sports and must be a sophomore or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

The fall All-Academic Team features 14 seniors, 13 juniors and five sophomores.  Six honorees are earning fall All-Academic honors for the second time in their careers, while a pair of honorees have earned the honor for a third time in their career.  In addition all six fall sports sponsored by the Landmark Conference were represented with at least one student-athlete.  The Landmark Conference will select an All-Academic Team for each of the three athletic seasons during the year.

Lutcza, pictured at right, finished eighth in the 2009 Landmark Conference Championships with a time of 27:49.  He also competed in the 2009 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championship where he ran a 28:06.  Lutcza was a Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll selection and is working towards a degree in Computer Science. 

Ritchey, who was named to the 2009 Landmark Men’s Soccer All-Conference Second Team, contributed four goals while starting 14 games this season for Moravian.  Ritchey, pictured at left, has also been named to the 2007 and 2008 Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll.  A Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll selection this year as well, Ritchey is working towards a degree in both Psychology and Business Management.

Feldmann, who was named to the Landmark Conference Women’s Soccer All-Conference First Team in only her second year as a Greyhound, posted two goals while starting all 18 games this season on Moravian’s defense which posted five shutouts and allowed only 25 goals.  Feldmann, pictured at right, was a Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll selection and her major is undecided.

King, who was named to the Landmark Conference Women’s Volleyball All-Conference First Team this year, contributed 254 kills and 109 total blocks in 122 games for Moravian.  In 2007, King was named the Volleyball Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year while also being named to the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll in the fall of 2008 and the spring of 2009.  King, who was a 2009 Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll selection, is working towards a degree in Nursing.
