ERIC LAMBINUS RESIGNS AS MORAVIAN COLLEGE WOMEN’S SOCCER COACH
TO TAKE SAME POSITION AT NCAA DIVISION I LEHIGH UNIVERSITY

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Eric Lambinus, Moravian College’s head women’s coach for the past 11 seasons, has resigned his position Tuesday to accept the same position at NCAA Division I Lehigh University beginning on February 15th.

“We want to thank Eric for his 11 years of service as a faculty member and a coach at Moravian College,” Director of Athletics Paul Moyer said.  “Eric has helped put Moravian’s women’s soccer program on the national scene and built one of the premiere programs in the Mid-Atlantic Region.”

Lambinus, pictured, led the women's squad to a 129-66-16 mark in his 11 seasons as well as six playoff berths including berths in the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament in 2005, 2007 and 2008, the program's first-ever conference title in the 2008 Landmark Conference Tournament, six conference tournament appearances, and a berth in the 2003 ECAC Mid-Atlantic Championship match.

Lambinus also coached the Moravian men's team during his first ten years, leading the squad to a 76-101-15 record, their first playoff appearance in ten years, four Commonwealth Conference playoff berths and two ECAC Tournament appearances. This past fall was the first year Lambinus focused on the women's team.

“I would like to thank Moravian College and all the wonderful people I been associated with in my time as a coach and faculty member as well as my days as a student-athlete," Lambinus said.  “Moravian has an unbelievable tradition of developing young adults into quality contributing members of society, both personally and professionally.  I hope that I can continue that tradition in my move to Lehigh University.  There is no doubt in my mind that Moravian was the perfect place for me in my development as a student-athlete, coach and person.

“In particular, I would like to thank Paul Moyer and the entire athletic department for mentoring me from a young and inexperienced coach into a person that would be entrusted to lead a Division I women’s soccer program at an institution like Lehigh University.  This is definitely a bittersweet moment for me.  I am truly thankful for my time at Moravian and I will always be a Greyhound.”

Lambinus graduated from Moravian College in 1994 after an outstanding athletic career for the Greyhounds. On the soccer field, Lambinus was a four-time All Middle Atlantic Conference All-Star (three times on the first team) and led the Greyhounds to a pair of MAC Southern Division Championships in 1990 and 1991. He was a two-time National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Mid-Atlantic All-American in 1991 and 1992, and Lambinus earned adidas Regional All-Academic honors three times.

Lambinus also played tennis at Moravian and served as team captain for both soccer and tennis. He was the soccer team's MVP as a junior and senior, and the tennis team's MVP as a senior. Lambinus is third all-time in scoring at Moravian with 88 points in his soccer career with 33 goals and 22 assists while playing his final three seasons as a sweeper.

Moravian expects to do a national search for a head women’s coach.
