MORAVIAN TRACK & FIELD TEAMS RANKED IN NCAA DIVISION III DUAL MEET RANKINGS

NEW ORLEANS, LA --- The Moravian College men’s track & field team dropped five spots to 18th in the nation and the Moravian women fell four spots to 21st in the country in the third NCAA Division III Dual Meet Rankings of the 2010 season released by the U S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Wednesday.

The Greyhound men have a total of 118.38 points and are the second team from the Mideast Region in the rankings.  Carnegie Mellon University is 17th with 120.44 points.  The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh is the top ranked team in the country with 158.04 points while North Central College is second with 155.21 points.

The Greyhound women have a total of 98.46 points and are the top team from the Mideast Region in the rankings.  The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is the top ranked team in the country with 141.71 points while North Central College is second also with 141.71 points.

A team's total point score is the sum of all points earned by that team in each event. Teams are allowed to select up to two athletes per event, and an athlete can only be used in a maximum of three events (not including relays). Only one relay team per event can be selected. Schools are responsible for submitting their own results. The points are based on the best marks in an event in the current season (it's not the athlete's personal best; it's their best this season), according to www.d3rankings.us which coordinates the poll.

Moravian will return to action on Friday, February 12th at the Lafayette College-Rider University Games at the New York City Armory.
