MORAVIAN’S HARRISON & WEAVER NAMED LEHIGH VALLEY SMALL COLLEGE BASKETBALL TEAMS OF THE YEAR;
HARRISON HONORED AS PETE NEVINS CO-WOMEN’S PLAYER OF THE YEAR

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Seniors Kate Harrison (Cold Spring Harbor, NY/Cold Spring Harbor HS) and Eric Weaver (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury HS) from the Moravian College basketball teams have been named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Teams of the Year by the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization at its third luncheon of the 2009-10 season at Starters Restaurant in Bethlehem, and Harrison was named the Women’s Co-Pete Nevins Player of the Year. 

The Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization is made up of the seven small college schools in the Lehigh Valley including NCAA Division II schools East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and NCAA Division III schools Cedar Crest College, Delaware Valley College, DeSales University, Moravian College and Muhlenberg College.

Harrison, a guard, has helped the Moravian women to a 22-2 overall record and a 13-0 record in Landmark Conference action.  Harrison, pictured at right, is second on the Moravian squad in scoring with an average of 10.8 points per game, and she is grabbing 5.3 rebounds per contest which is third on the squad.  Harrison has added a team high 72 assists and just 54 turnovers while ranking 48th in the nation in assist-turnover margin.  She also has 37 steals, 21 blocked shots while starting all 24 games and playing a team high 24.4 minutes per game.  Harrison became the 19th player in school history to score 1,000 points in a career and the first of three this season, and she is 15th all-time with 1,089 points, 17th with 480 rebounds and sixth with 269 assists.

Joining Harrison on the Team of the Year were Kelly Oakes from Cedar Crest, Kim Vennera of Delaware Valley, Lori Lidlow from DeSales, DeAnna Rayam of East Stroudsburg, Melissa McQuade from Kutztown and Kelly McKeon of Muhlenberg.  Harrison and McKeon were selected as the Co-Pete Nevins Women’s Players of the Year in a vote by the media, coaches and sports information directors in attendance.

Weaver, a forward, has helped the Greyhounds to a 7-17 overall record and a 3-10 mark in Landmark Conference action.  Weaver, pictured at left, leads the Moravian squad in scoring at 12.7 points per game, and he is second on the team in rebounding at 6.0 rebounds per contest.  Weaver has added 41 assists and 33 steals in the 23 games that he has played in.  Weaver has 869 career points and 400 career rebounds for Moravian.

Joining Weaver on the Team of the Year were James Jones of Delaware Valley, Darnell Braswell from DeSales, Robby Pines of East Stroudsburg, Stephen Dennis from Kutztown and Spencer Liddic of Muhlenberg.  Dennis was selected as the Pete Nevins Men’s Player of the Year.
