FOUR GREYHOUNDS, MORAVIAN TEAM RANKED IN NCAA DIVISION III WOMEN’S BASKETBALL STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Four players on the Moravian College women’s basketball team are ranked in the ninth NCAA Division III statistics release of the 2009-10 season including games through February 21st, and the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 50 of 424 teams in nine categories.

Sophomore forward Alexandra Blair (Hellertown, PA/Bethlehem Catholic HS) is 18th in the nation in blocked shots at 2.7 per game with 68 blocked shots in 25 games.  Blair, pictured at right, had eight blocked shots in Moravian’s three games last week.

Senior forward Kirsty Stearns (East Norwich, NY/Oyster Bay HS) is 22nd in the nation in free throw percentage at 86.0 percent, having made 86 of 100 free throw attempts this season.  Stearns, pictured at left, is also tied for 67th in blocked shots at 1.8 per game with 46 blocked shots in

Senior guard Jessica Foran (Annandale, NJ/Rutgers Prep HS), pictured at right, is also ranked in free throw percentage at 58th at 82.5 percent, making 80 of 97 free throw attempts.

Senior guard Kate Harrison (Cold Spring Harbor, NY/Cold Spring Harbor HS) is 67th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.47.  Harrison has dished out 81 assists and made just 55 turnovers through 25 games this winter. 

Foran, Harrison, pictured at left, and Stearns have all surpassed the 1,000-point plateau for their careers this season.

Moravian, which led the nation in free throw percentage last season, is currently third in the country from the foul line at 76.9 percent (469-for-610).  The Greyhounds are second in blocked shots per game at 7.0, third in scoring offense at 79.4 points per game, tied for ninth in winning percentage at 92.0 percent, 15th in turnover margin at 6.32, 15th in scoring margin at +17.7 points per game, 23rd in field goal percentage at 43.9 percent (714-of-1,627), 47th in assist-to-turnover ratio at 0.87 and tied for 48th in assists per game at 15.4.

The Greyhounds, who are now 23-2 overall and finished a perfect 14-0 in Landmark Conference regular season action, will return to the court on Wednesday, February 24th in a Landmark Conference Semifinal game versus Susquehanna University tipping off at 7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall. 

Moravian is currently ranked ninth in the nation in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, and the Greyhounds are tenth in the USA Today/ESPN Division III Coaches.
