MORAVIAN TRACK & FIELD TEAMS RANKED IN NCAA DIVISION III DUAL MEET RANKINGS

NEW ORLEANS, LA --- The Moravian College men’s track & field team dropped four spots to 20th in the nation and the Moravian women fell seven spots to 31st in the country in the fifth NCAA Division III Dual Meet Rankings of the 2010 season released by the U S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Wednesday.

The Greyhound men have a total of 129.07 points and are the second team from the Mideast Region in the rankings.  Carnegie Mellon University is 19th with 129.29 points.  The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh is the top ranked team in the country with 166.97 points while The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is second with 162.99 points.

The Greyhound women have a total of 105.89 points and are the second team from the Mideast Region in the rankings, trailing Susquehanna University, which is 29th with 106.21 points.  The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is the top ranked team in the country with 146.93 points while North Central College is second also with 145.21 points.

A team's total point score is the sum of all points earned by that team in each event. Teams are allowed to select up to two athletes per event, and an athlete can only be used in a maximum of three events (not including relays). Only one relay team per event can be selected. Schools are responsible for submitting their own results. The points are based on the best marks in an event in the current season (it's not the athlete's personal best; it's their best this season), according to www.d3rankings.us which coordinates the poll.

Moravian will return to action on Saturday, February 27th at the 2010 Landmark Conference Championship being hosted by Susquehanna University.
