MORAVIAN SELECTED EIGHTH IN 2010 CENTENNIAL CONFERENCE PRESEASON FOOTBALL POLL

LANCASTER, PA --- The Moravian College football team has been selected to finish eighth in the 2010 Centennial Conference preseason poll selected by the conference's head coaches and sports information directors and released after the 2010 Centennial Conference media day live chat.

The Greyhounds, under the direction of head coach Scot Dapp entering his 24th season with a 137-99-1 record, return 56 letterwinners from last year's 2-8 squad as Moravian made its debut in the Centennial Conference as an associate member in the sport of football in 2007. The Greyhounds were 2-6 in their second Centennial Conference season last fall, and expect to have 102 players report to camp on August 14th.

Defending Centennial Conference Champion Johns Hopkins University was selected first in the Centennial Conference poll with 11 first-place votes and 154 points. Franklin & Marshall College was picked second with 145 points and seven first-place votes while Ursinus College was third with 126 points and conference newcomer Susquehanna University was fourth with 107 points.  Ursinus and Susquehanna each garnered one first-place vote. Dickinson College was selected fifth with 99 points while Muhlenberg College was sixth with 90 points.  Rounding out the poll were McDaniel College in seventh place with 57 points, Moravian in eighth place at 52 points, Gettysburg College in ninth place with 51 points and Juniata College in tenth place with 19 points.

Moravian will begin its 2010 schedule on Saturday, September 4th in a Centennial Conference game versus Susquehanna University kicking off at 1:00 p.m. at Rocco Calvo Field in Bethlehem.
