MORAVIAN MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY TEAM TIED FOR SECOND IN LANDMARK CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL
MADISON, N.J. --- The Moravian College men’s cross country team has been picked to tie for second in the 2010 Landmark Conference season in a preseason poll selected by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.
Defending Landmark Conference Champion Susquehanna University was selected first in the poll with 83 points while the Greyhounds and The University of Scranton were tied for second with 65 points apiece. Juniata College was picked fourth with 56 points while The United States Merchant Marine Academy is fifth with 44 points. Rounding out the poll are Goucher College in sixth place with 36 points, Drew University at seventh with 24 points and The Catholic University of America in eighth place with 19 points.
Moravian looks to challenge for the Landmark Conference Championship with the return of its top five runners and nine letterwinners on the men’s squad. The cross country squads are under the direction of director of Cross Country and Track & Field Walt Wandall and assistant distance coach David Cohen, who joins the Moravian staff this fall. The team, which will be led on the course by returning Landmark All-Conference Second Team honorees junior Matt Lutcza (Dingmans Ferry, PA/Delaware Valley HS) and sophomore Donnie Noble (Souderton, PA/Souderton HS) began its preseason this weekend.
The Greyhounds begin their 2010 season on Friday, September 3rd at the Lehigh Valley Championship hosted by Lehigh University on the Goodman Campus at 5:00 p.m. The 2010 Landmark Conference championship meet will be held on Saturday, October 30th hosted by Goucher in Towson, Maryland.
