MORAVIAN MEN’S SOCCER TEAM PICKED SIXTH IN LANDMARK CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL

MADISON, N.J. --- The Moravian College men’s soccer team has been selected sixth in the 2010 Landmark Conference season in a preseason poll selected by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

Defending Landmark Conference champion The Catholic University of America was picked first in the poll with 89 points, 11 points ahead of second place The United States Merchant Marine Academy with 78 points. The University of Scranton was selected third with 76 points while Drew University was fourth with 69 points.  The top four teams in the poll had at least one first-place vote.  Susquehanna University earned 57 points for the fifth spot while the Greyhounds had 32 points in sixth place.  Rounding out the poll are Goucher College with 24 points in seventh place and Juniata College in eighth place with 23 points.

The Moravian College men’s soccer team has high expectations going into the 2010 season with the return of 13 letterwinners and eight starters. Second-year head coach Todd Ervin looks to improve on a 4-11-2 debut season and looks to challenge for a Landmark Conference playoff berth.  The team began its preseason camp on Wednesday, August 18th.

The Greyhounds begin their 2010 season on Tuesday, September 1st when they travel to Wesley (DE) College in a non-conference match beginning at 7:00 p.m.  Moravian will begin Landmark Conference action on Saturday, September 25th at Drew in a 3:30 p.m. match.
