MORAVIAN’S D’ANGELO & LEONARD SELECTED FOR 2010 NCAA STUDENT-ATHLETE LEADERSHIP FORUM

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Moravian College junior Kyle D’Angelo (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern HS) and sophomore Micah Leonard (York, PA/William Penn HS) have been selected to participate in the 2010 NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum to be held October 21-24 at Walt Disney’s Contemporary Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

In 2002, the NCAA began divisional regionally based leadership conference for Division I, II and III student-athletes.  This fall will mark the first time Division I, II and III regionally based leadership programming will take place at one site on the same weekend.  The NCAA anticipates 400 student-athletes to attend this year’s Leadership Forum.  Moravian has sent student-athletes to the Leadership Forum since it began.

Katie Dantsin, who is the director of Moravian’s Leadership Center, will be heading to the Leadership Forum with D’Angelo and Leonard, pictured at right.  The main days of the meetings will be October 22nd and 23rd with full days of activities and meetings scheduled for the student-athletes.  Moravian’s NCAA Champs/Lifeskills Director and head women’s tennis coach Dawn Ketterman-Benner and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee advisor and head women’s volleyball coach Shelley Bauder coordinated the selection process on campus.

D’Angelo, pictured at left, and Leonard are both members of Moravian’s track & field teams.  Last year, Leonard, a jumper, earned All-America honors in the long jump with a fifth place finish at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, and she captured both the indoor and outdoor Landmark Conference championships in the triple jump.  D’Angelo, a pole vaulter and sprinter, won a pair of Landmark Conference relay championships, helping the Greyhounds win the 4x200-meter relay indoors and the 4x100-meter relay outdoors.
