MORAVIAN’S LUCAS SMITH HONORED AS EMPIRE 8 CONFERENCE MEN’S GOLF PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ROCHESTER, N.Y. --- Senior Lucas Smith (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing HS) of the Moravian College golf team has been named the Empire 8 Conference Men’s Golf Player of the Week for the second time this season for his performance last week.

Smith had another good week for Moravian, averaging 76.0 over two tournaments.  He was the medalist of 56 golfers at The Invitational Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College with a round of 75 on the par 70 Lehigh Country Club course.  Smith was tied for third of 53 golfers at the Centenary College Cyclone Tournament with a 77 on the par 71 Panther Valley Country Club course.  For Smith, the medalist honor was his second of the season and fourth of his career, and he now was 13 top-five career finishes.  He averaged 77.3 strokes per round for the fall and has seven straight sub-78 rounds.

Moravian has completed the fall portion of its schedule and will not be back on the course until the squad hosts the Moravian Spring Invitational on Thursday, March 31st at Woodstone Country Club in Danielsville, Pennsylvania.
