THREE GREYHOUND WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYERS RANKED IN NCAA STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Three members of the Moravian College women’s basketball team are ranked in the tenth NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Statistics Ranking of the 2010-11 season through games of February 27th, and the Greyhounds are ranked in two team categories.

Junior forward Alexandra Blair (Hellertown, PA/Bethlehem Catholic HS) is fifth in the nation in blocked shots per game with an average of 3.8.  Blair, pictured at right, has recorded 99 blocked shots in 26 games this year, breaking her own single season record of 78 set last season.

Senior forward Amy Heffner (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland HS) is 47th the nation in points per game with a scoring average of 17.0, and she is 94th in free throw percentage at 80.8 percent.  Heffner, pictured at left, has scored 466 points in 26 contests this season for Moravian, reaching double figures in 25 of 26 games and 20-plus points in ten contests.  She is also 143-of-177 at the foul line.

Senior guard/forward Emily Smith (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South HS) is tied for 61st in the country in free throw percentage at 82.9 percent.  Smith, pictured at right, is 68-for-82 at the foul line this year in 21 games, and she is one of four Moravian players shooting over 80 percent at the line this season.

The Greyhounds are 11th in the nation in free throw percentage at 76.5 percent.  Moravian has made 511-of-668 free throws this season, and the squad is third in blocked shots with an average of 6.5 per contest with 168 total blocked shots.

Moravian is 14-12 overall and was 9-5 in the Landmark Conference regular season, and the Greyhounds will return to action in an ECAC Division III South Championship Tournament Quarterfinal game at top-seeded Waynesburg University on Wednesday, March 2nd at 7:00 p.m.
