MORAVIAN WOMEN’S TENNIS TEAM SELECTED SECOND IN LANDMARK CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL

MADISON, N.J. --- The 2011 Moravian College women’s tennis team has been selected second in the Landmark Conference season in a preseason poll selected by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

Defending conference champion Drew University was selected to repeat as champions with 60 points while the Greyhounds received 46 points, just one point ahead of third place The University of Scranton.  Susquehanna University was picked fourth with 41 points while Juniata College was fifth with 25 points.  Rounding out the poll are The Catholic University of America in sixth with 19 points and Goucher College with 16 points.

Moravian, under the direction of 25th-year head coach Dawn Ketterman-Benner (249-95), returns seven letterwinners and five starters from last year’s 12-6 squad that made its 15th straight appearance in the conference championship match last spring.

The Greyhounds began their 2011 spring season on Monday, March 7th with a 9-0 win over NCAA Division II Edinboro University of Pennsylvania at the Spring TennisFest in Hilton Head, South Carolina.  Moravian will play three more matches before returning home.
