MORAVIAN’S JENNA CARMON NAMED ECAC DIVISION III SOUTH SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

CAPE COD, MA --- Junior pitcher/first baseman Jenna Carmon (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central HS) of the Moravian College softball team has been named the first ECAC Division III South Pitcher of the Week for the 2011 season after her performance last week.

Carmon, who was also named the Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Week, helped the nationally-ranked Moravian softball team to a 7-2 record on the squad's Spring Break trip to the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida.  Carmon had a 3-1 record in the circle with a 0.57 ERA in 24.2 innings of action.  She allowed eight runs, just two earned, on 18 hits and five walks with 21 strikeouts.  At the plate, Carmon hit .409 (9-for-22) with six runs, eight RBIs, three doubles, three walks and three sacrifices.  Carmon also had 12 putouts and ten assists in the field while playing in eight games.

The 23rd-ranked Greyhounds, 7-2 overall, are scheduled to return to action on Thursday, March 17th in a non-conference doubleheader at 24th-ranked The College of New Jersey beginning at 3:00 p.m.
