LANDMARK PRESIDENT’S ALL-SPORTS CUP WINTER STANDINGS ANNOUNCED

MADISON, N.J. – Reigning cup holders Susquehanna University holds a familiar position in first place following two completed seasons in the Landmark President’s All-Sports Cup standings. With the winter season done and 12 of the 20 Landmark sport seasons completed, the Crusaders boast a score of 7.13.

That total is down slightly from the score the Crusaders had following the winter season last year, when they claimed their first President’s All Sports Cup title and their lead of .525 is also slightly smaller. They hold that lead over The University of Scranton which has a score 6.60 through two seasons, with Juniata College in third with 6.43 and the only teams with scores of more than six. Moravian College, which won the first two All-Sports Cups, is in fourth, nearly a full point behind Juniata.

The Landmark President’s All-Sports Cup is awarded based on a formula that rewards institutions for their finishes in the regular season conference standings as well as results in Landmark postseason competition. The formula also takes into account the number of sports a school sponsors.

Susquehanna built its lead on the strength of three championships and another finish atop the regular season standings. The Crusader men’s and women’s cross country teams, as well as the women’s swimming & diving team all won Championships this season, while the men’s soccer team topped the regular season standings. The team also had only two of 12 teams finish lower than fifth in the regular season standings.

Scranton benefitted from a pair of team titles to help it hold on to second place in the standings with its women’s soccer and men’s basketball teams both finishing atop the regular season standings and winning postseason championships. The Royals also earned runner-up finishes from its women’s basketball, women’s cross country and women’s swimming & diving teams

Juniata matched Susquehanna with three titles through two seasons, with its field hockey, volleyball and women’s basketball teams all won Championships after finishing atop the regular season standings. The Eagles also got top-3 finishes from its women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, and women’s indoor track & field teams.

With the winter season complete, spring sports are underway and teams have the opportunity to accumulate points in eight sports during the season. The Landmark sponsors competition in baseball, men’s and women’s lacrosse, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, and men’s and women’s outdoor track & field during the spring.
