MORAVIAN’S BRENDAN CLOSE HONORED AS LANDMARK CONFERENCE BASEBALL
PITCHER OF THE WEEK FOR 3RD STRAIGHT WEEK

MADISON, N.J. --- Junior pitcher Brendan Close (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom HS) of the Moravian College baseball team has been named the Landmark Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for a third straight week for his performance last week.

Close continued his undefeated season with a win over The United States Merchant Marine Academy.  Close allowed a run, his first in 22 innings, on five hits and no walks while striking out ten batters in eight innings of a 7-1 win.  With the ten strikeouts, Close became the school record holder in career strikeouts with 187, and he won his 18th career game, also a school record.  Close is 6-0 this season with just three walks and 55 strikeouts in 42 innings.

The Greyhounds, 16-6 overall and 8-1 in Landmark Conference action, are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, April 6th in a non-conference game at Elizabethtown College beginning at 4:00 p.m.
