NINE GREYHOUND SOFTBALL PLAYERS RANKED IN NCAA STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Nine members of the nationally-ranked Moravian College softball team are ranked in the fourth NCAA Division III Baseball Statistics Ranking of the 2011 season released this week, and the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 50 in three team categories.

Junior pitcher/designated player Jenna Carmon (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central HS) is ranked in five categories including being 11th in the nation in earned run average at 0.96.  Carmon is also tied for 38th in shutouts with four, tied for 19th in saves with two, 30th in hits allowed per seven innings at 5.35 and tied for 35th in walks allowed per seven innings at 1.20.

Sophomore pitcher Alyssa Fegely (Mertztown, PA/Brandwine Heights HS) is also tied for 38th in the country in shutouts with four while senior Elizabeth Python (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman HS) is tied for 71st with three shutouts.

Freshman catcher Cassie Ernst (Annville, PA/Annville-Cleona HS) is tied for 36th in the nation in hit by pitch at 0.22.  Ernst has been hit by five pitches in 23 games this spring.

Freshman outfielder/catcher Taylor Mihalik (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS) is tied for 24th in the country with four triples this season.

Freshman outfielder Miranda Sergas (Lansdale, PA/North Penn HS) is tied for 30th in the country with three sacrifice flies this season while senior outfielder Amanda Paulus (Easton, PA/Easton HS) is tied for 86th with two sacrifice flies.

Junior outfielder Olivia Evanko (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth HS) is tied for 50th in the country with an average of 0.32 sacrifice hits per game including eight sacrifice hits this season while sophomore infielder Shannen Mohr (Slatington, PA/Parkland HS) is tied for 67th in slugging percentage at .526.

The Greyhounds are ranked tenth in the nation in team earned run average at 1.47, and Moravian is also 11th in the country in won-loss percentage at .867 and tied for 33rd in scoring at 7.23 runs per game.

Moravian, which is ranked 18th in the country with a 28-4 overall record and an 8-0 mark in Landmark Conference action, is scheduled to return to the field on Saturday, April 22nd in Landmark Conference doubleheader at The Catholic University of America beginning at 1:00 p.m.
