MORAVIAN MEN’S AND WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD TEAMS RANKED IN LATEST USTFCCCA DIVISION III TOP 25

NEW ORLEANS, LA --- The Moravian College men’s track & field team slipped five spots to 18th in the fourth NCAA Division III Top 25 Poll of the outdoor season released by the U S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Wednesday while the Moravian women debuted in the poll at 23rd.

The Greyhound men, who have a team point total of 64.24, were ranked 13th last week after being outside the top 25 at 40th two weeks ago. Moravian is also ranked second in the Mideast Region for the third straight week.  McMurry University is ranked first with 230.73 points while North Central (IL) College remained second with 132.92.

The Greyhound women, who have been the top ranked team in the Mideast Region the last four weeks, have a point total of 45.17 points and moved up from outside the top 25 at 33rd last week.  Wartburg (IA) College is first in the nation for the women with 237.42 points while The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh is second with 204.55 points.

The scoring system for the teams shall be the sum of two factors measured per individual/relay performance on the national descending-order lists: place on the descending order list and a weighed value of the individual/relay performance based on the field (“bonus”).  Complete information and the polls can also be found at http://www.ustfccca.org/rankings/division-iii-rankings.

Moravian will return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 30th and May 1st when they travel to the 2011 Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships hosted by Juniata College.
