MORAVIAN SOFTBALL SQUAD MOVES UP TWO SPOTS TO 23RD IN LATEST NFCA DIVISION III TOP 25 POLL

STARKVILLE, MS --- The Moravian College softball team moved up two spots to 23rd in the 11th regular season National Fastpitch Coaches Association NCAA Division III Top 25 Poll for 2011 released Wednesday. 

Linfield (OR) received all eight first-place votes and 200 points to hold down the top position for a 12th straight poll including the preseason while Emory (GA) University has 188 points for second place.  East Texas Baptist University remained in the third spot with 178 points while Luther (IA) College stayed in fourth with 174 points.  Central (IA) College rounds out the top five with 164 points. 

The Greyhounds, who have 23 points for a second straight week, were seventh in the preseason poll and tied for ninth in the first regular season poll before falling to 11th.  Moravian then dropped to 23rd in the fourth regular season poll and down to 25th before rising up to 22nd, then 21st, 18th and 17th.  The Greyhounds dropped to 18th before a drop to 25th last week.

Moravian is currently 32-6 on the season including a 5-3 loss to Emory on March 8th, and a doubleheader split winning 3-0 and losing 6-0 to then-ranked The College of New Jersey on March 17th.
