STARKVILLE, MS --- Junior pitcher/designated player Jenna Carmon (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central HS) and sophomore third baseman Shannen Mohr (Slatington, PA/Northern Lehigh HS) of the Moravian College softball team have been named to the 2011 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-East Region First Team announced late Wednesday by the NFCA.

The Greyhounds under the direction of 18-year head coach John Byrne, who as a career mark of 579-180, have posted a 35-7 overall record this spring, the 18th consecutive season that Moravian has won at least 23 games, and an 11-1 mark in Landmark Conference regular season action.  The Greyhounds, which have won over 30 games 12 times under Byrne including the last 11 years, won their 12th straight conference title this past weekend with a fourth straight Landmark Conference Championship, and the program played in the conference tournament for the 16th time in 17 years.  Moravian also received a berth to the 2011 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament, its 13th berth in the last 14 years.  The Greyhounds are seeded second in a six-team regional being hosted by SUNY Cortland, and will begin action on Friday, May 13th versus fifth seed The College of Staten Island at 12:00 p.m. in the double-elimination tournament.

Carmon, who was the 2009 and 2010 Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Year and she was on the Landmark All-Conference First Team as a pitcher and Second Team as a designated player in 2009, the First Team in the pitcher in 2010 and the First Team as a utility player in 2011, is 12-4 with two saves, a 1.42 ERA, five shutouts, a no-hitter of then nationally-ranked The College of New Jersey, 25 walks and 74 strikeouts in 113.1 innings of action.  At the plate, Carmon, pictured at left, has a .345 average with 30 hits, 21 runs, eight doubles, two homers, ten walks and 27 RBIs while seeing action as a designated player and a first baseman this season when not pitching.  Carmon has a 51-15 career record in the circle with a 1.30 ERA, 17 shutouts, six saves and 239 strikeouts in 442 1/3 innings.  At the plate, she is hitting .324 with 112 hits, 24 doubles, two triples, six homer and 34 walks.

Mohr, pictured at right, is leading Moravian at the plate this season, and she has a .472 average, 42 hits, 29 runs, ten doubles, two homers, a school record 28 walks and 27 RBIs.  In two seasons, Mohr has collected 82 hits to go with a .373 average, 19 doubles, ten homers, 68 RBIs, 54 walks and 181 assists in the field.

Both Carmon and Mohr, who were on the All-East Region Third Team a year ago, are now eligible for Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-American honors that will be announced on Thursday, May 19th at the NCAA Championship Banquet preceding the start of the NCAA Division III World Series in Salem, Virginia.
