MORAVIAN TRACK & FIELD TEAMS RANKED IN SEVENTH NCAA DIVISION III OUTDOOR REGIONAL TEAM INDEX

NEW ORLEANS, LA --- The Moravian College men’s & women’s track & field teams are both ranked in the Mideast Region in the seventh and final regular season NCAA Division III Regional Team Index of the 2011 outdoor season released by the U S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Wednesday with the Moravian women remaining second in the region while the men stayed third.

The Greyhound women have a total of 263.73 points, and Moravian remained in second for a third consecutive week after four weeks in the top position in the region.  Johns Hopkins University remained first this week with 272.43 points while Messiah College remained third at 231.94.

The Greyhound men have a total of 226.77 points, and Moravian was tenth in the first ranking before moving up to second for three weeks and then dropping to third two weeks ago.  Haverford leads the Mideast Region with 348.07 points while Dickinson College is second with 245.17 points.

The scoring system for the teams shall be the sum of two factors measured per individual/relay performance on the national descending-order lists: place on the descending order list and a weighed value of the individual/relay performance based on the field (“bonus”).  Complete information and the polls can also be found at http://www.ustfccca.org/rankings/division-iii-rankings.

Moravian will return to action on Thursday and Friday, May 19th & 20th when it hosts the 2011 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships at Rocco Calvo Field and Timothy Breidegam Track at 10:00 a.m. both days.
