NINE GREYHOUND SOFTBALL PLAYERS RANKED IN NCAA STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Nine members of the nationally-ranked Moravian College softball team are ranked in the sixth NCAA Division III Baseball Statistics Ranking of the 2011 season released this week for games through May 15th, and the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 50 in four team categories.

Junior pitcher/designated player Jenna Carmon (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central HS) is ranked in seven categories including being 30th in the nation in earned run average at 1.52.  Carmon is also tied for 51th in shutouts with five, tied for 36th in saves with two, 63rd in hits allowed per seven innings at 5.93, tied for 69th in victories with 14, 73rd in walks allowed per seven innings at 1.37 and tied for 77th in sacrifice hits at the plate with an average of 0.24 per game.

Senior Elizabeth Python (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman HS) is tied for 32nd with five shutouts, and she is tied for 69th with 14 victories while sophomore pitcher Alyssa Fegely (Mertztown, PA/Brandwine Heights HS) is tied for 78th in the country in shutouts with four.

Sophomore infielder Shannen Mohr (Slatington, PA/Parkland HS) is 35th in the country in batting average at .475, and she is eighth in on-base percentage at .600 and 22nd in walks per game at 0.67.

Freshman catcher Cassie Ernst (Annville, PA/Annville-Cleona HS) is tied for 60th in the nation in hit by pitch at 0.18.  Ernst has been hit by seven pitches in 38 games this spring.  She is also 19th in the country with a .549 on-base percentage.

Freshman outfielder/catcher Taylor Mihalik (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS) is tied for 30th in the country with five triples this season, and she is tied for 47th in triples per game at 0.12 while sophomore first baseman Amanda Dizinno (Budd Lake, NJ/Mount Olive HS) is 18th in toughest to strikeout with just two strikeouts in 98 at-bats this spring.

Freshman outfielder Miranda Sergas (Lansdale, PA/North Penn HS) is tied for 56th in the country with three sacrifice flies this season, and she is 75th in the country in sacrifice hits per game at 0.25 while senior outfielder Amanda Paulus (Easton, PA/Easton HS) is tied for 18th with four sacrifice flies.

The Greyhounds are ranked 12th in the nation in team earned run average at 1.52, and Moravian is tied for 11th in the country in won-loss percentage at .822, 43rd in scoring at 6.60 runs per game and 31st in fielding percentage at .963.

Moravian, which tied for 21st in the country, completed its 2011 season with a 37-9 record, a fourth straight Landmark Conference Championship and a berth in the 2011 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament, going 2-2 at the Cortland Regional last week.
