MORAVIAN MEN’S TRACK & FIELD TEAM SLIPS TO 21ST IN LATEST USTFCCCA DIVISION III TOP 25

NEW ORLEANS, LA --- The Moravian College men’s track & field team dropped three spots to 21st in the seventh and final regular season NCAA Division III Top 25 Poll of the outdoor season released by the U S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Wednesday.

The Greyhound men, who have a team point total of 57.94, were ranked 18th last week after being 16th the week before.  Moravian was 18th three weeks ago after debuting at 13th four weeks and was outside the top 25 before that, and the Greyhounds were ranked second in the Mideast Region for three weeks before falling to third the last three weeks.  McMurry University is ranked first with 194.79 points while North Central (IL) College remained second with 168.90.

The scoring system for the teams shall be the sum of two factors measured per individual/relay performance on the national descending-order lists: place on the descending order list and a weighed value of the individual/relay performance based on the field (“bonus”).  Complete information and the polls can also be found at http://www.ustfccca.org/rankings/division-iii-rankings.

Moravian will return to action on Thursday and Friday, May 19th & 20th when it hosts the 2011 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships at Rocco Calvo Field and Timothy Breidegam Track at 10:00 a.m. both days.
