NINE GREYHOUND SOFTBALL PLAYERS RANKED IN FINAL 2011 NCAA DIVISION III STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Nine members of the nationally-ranked Moravian College softball team are ranked in the final NCAA Division III Baseball Statistics Ranking of the 2011 season released this week, and the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 50 in four team categories.

Junior pitcher/designated player Jenna Carmon (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central HS) is ranked in seven categories including being 31st in the nation in earned run average at 1.5  Carmon is also tied for 52nd in shutouts with five, tied for 36th in saves with two, 61st in hits allowed per seven innings at 5.90, tied for 70th in victories with 14, 90th in walks allowed per seven innings at 1.50 and tied for 79th in sacrifice hits at the plate with an average of 0.24 per game.

Senior Elizabeth Python (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman HS) is tied for 33rd with five shutouts, and she is tied for 70th with 14 victories while sophomore pitcher Alyssa Fegely (Mertztown, PA/Brandwine Heights HS) is tied for 78th in the country in shutouts with four.

Sophomore infielder Shannen Mohr (Slatington, PA/Parkland HS) is ninth in the country in batting average at .500, and she is fifth in on-base percentage at .612 and 36th in walks per game at 0.63 after drawing a school record 29 walks in 46 games this season.

Freshman catcher Cassie Ernst (Annville, PA/Annville-Cleona HS) is tied for 62nd in the nation in hit by pitch at 0.18.  Ernst was hit by seven pitches in 39 games this spring.  She is also 18th in the country with a .552 on-base percentage.

Freshman outfielder/catcher Taylor Mihalik (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS) is tied for 31st in the country with five triples this season, and she is tied for 47th in triples per game at 0.12 while sophomore first baseman Amanda Dizinno (Budd Lake, NJ/Mount Olive HS) is 18th in toughest to strikeout with just two strikeouts in 99 at-bats this spring.

Freshman outfielder Miranda Sergas (Lansdale, PA/North Penn HS) is tied for 60th in the country with three sacrifice flies this season, and she is tied for 77th in the nation in sacrifice hits per game at 0.24 while senior outfielder Amanda Paulus (Easton, PA/Easton HS) is tied for 19th with four sacrifice flies.

The Greyhounds are ranked 14th in the nation in team earned run average at 1.68, and Moravian is 17th in the country in won-loss percentage at .804, 49th in scoring at 6.48 runs per game and 28th in fielding percentage at .964.

Moravian, which finished the season ranked 21st in the country, completed its 2011 season with a 37-9 record, a fourth straight Landmark Conference Championship and a berth in the 2011 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament, going 2-2 at the SUNY Cortland Regional.
