MORAVIAN NAMES DARREN DAMEWOOD AS HEAD EQUIPMENT MANAGER

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Darren Damewood has been named the head equipment manager for the Moravian College athletic department effective July 1st.

“We are excited to have Darren join our staff,” said Moravian College Assistant Director of Athletics and head softball coach John Byrne.  “Darren brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position after working with the three Arena Football League teams and the University of Texas at Austin football program.”

Damewood will oversee a staff of two part-time assistant equipment managers as well as a student staff. He will supervise all aspects of athletic equipment operations, and Damewood will assist all staff with purchasing as well as become certified in equipment fitting. Damewood has been a certified active member of the AEMA (athletic equipment manager’s association) since 2007.

Damewood is a 2006 graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts and a minor in education. He has served as an equipment manager and worked with football operations for the Dallas Vigilantes and Kansas City Command in the Arena Football League the last two years and with the Manchester Wolves of the AF2 in 2009, and he was a student equipment manager for the University of Texas at Austin football team from 2001 through 2006.

Damewood has also been involved with the five seasons of the Friday Night Lights television show, serving as head equipment manager and assistant technical advisor the last two years.
