TWO GREYHOUND WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYERS RANKED IN NCAA STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Two players from the Moravian College women’s basketball team are ranked in the first NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Statistics Ranking of the 2010-11 season through games of December 12th, and the Greyhounds are ranked in two team categories.

Junior forward Alexandra Blair (Hellertown, PA/Bethlehem Catholic HS) is 17th in the nation in blocked shots per game with an average of 3.2.  Blair, pictured at right, has recorded 29 blocked shots in nine games this year.

Senior forward Amy Heffner (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland HS) is ranked 19th in the nation in points per game with a scoring average of 20.4, and she is tied for 46th in three-point field goal percentage at 43.9 percent, having made 18-of-41 three-pointers this season.  Heffner, who has 184 points and 73 rebounds this winter, is also tied for 40th with four double-doubles in nine games.

The Greyhounds are ninth in the nation in free throw percentage at 76.5 percent.  Moravian has made 189-of-247 free throws this season, and the squad is 12th in blocked shots with an average of 6.1 per contest with 55 total blocked shots.

Moravian is 4-5 overall and will return to action on Sunday, January 2nd when it hosts the 10th Annual Starters Moravian Winter Classic in Johnston Hall with the Greyhounds playing King’s College at 3:00 p.m.
