MORAVIAN WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD TEAM SELECTED FIRST LANDMARK CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL

MADISON, N.J. --- The 2010-11 Moravian College women’s indoor track & field team has been picked win the Landmark Conference season in a preseason poll selected by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

The Greyhounds, who have won the first three Landmark Conference titles, were picked first in the poll with 44 points just six points ahead of runner-up Susquehanna University.  Juniata College was selected third with 30 points while The Catholic University of America was fourth with 26 points.  Rounding out the poll were Goucher College in fifth place with 18 points and The United States Merchant Marine Academy with nine points.

The 2010-11 Moravian women’s indoor track & field team looks to repeat as the Landmark Conference Champion four a fourth straight year but will have to replace a large graduating class that contributed to the first three conference titles. Head coach Walt Wandall, who enters his 4th season, has 18 letterwinners returning including sophomore Micah Leonard (York, PA/William Penn HS), who won the triple jump and was runner-up in the long jump at last year’s conference championship and was an NCAA Division III All-American last winter in the long jump.

The Greyhounds opened their 2010-11 season at the non-scoring Lehigh University Season Opener on December 3rd, and the squad will return to action on Saturday, January 22nd at the Lehigh University Invitational.
