MORAVIAN’S AMY HEFFNER NAMED ECAC DIVISION III SOUTH WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

CAPE COD, MASS. --- Senior forward Amy Heffner (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland HS) of the Moravian College women’s basketball team has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III South Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after her performance last week.

Heffner helped Moravian to a 2-0 mark last week in Landmark Conference action for the Greyhounds as she was named the Landmark Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.  Heffner had a monster weekend, averaging 28.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game, and was named the ECAC Division III South Player of the Week for the second time this season. 

Heffner had 23 points and 13 rebounds in a win over Susquehanna University Friday evening, and then she had a career high 34 points and 12 rebounds in a victory versus Juniata College Saturday afternoon for her sixth double-double of the year.  Heffner was 19-for-35 from the floor (54.3 percent), seven-of-14 behind the three-point line and 12-of-16 at the foul line (75 percent).  She played 66 minutes in the two games with four steals and two blocked shots.

Moravian, which is 9-6 overall and 4-1 in Landmark Conference action, is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, January 18th in its final non-conference game of the season versus The College of New Jersey tipping off in Johnston Hall at 7:00 p.m.
